South Central Texas Tour de Cure – May 22-23, 2010

The excitement is building for the start of The Central and South Texas Tour de Cure where thousands of bicycle riders will pedal to find a cure for diabetes.  This year’s event is being held on May 22-23, 2010.

Cyclists will brave whatever mother-nature throws at them, as they spin their way through the picturesque Texas Hill Country.

Whether you are an avid cyclist, know a cyclist or would like to be a cyclist, you do not want to miss the largest ride dedicated to the fight against diabetes in the state of Texas.  Enjoy a variety of routes, a fun and entertaining Saturday Night Celebration, dorm room accommodations (for two-day riders), great food and safety support.

About the Ride

The fun all begins at the new starting point at Retama Park in Selma, where there will be a variety of routes to choose from.  Then, it’s on to our overnight stop in San Marcos, where a grand celebration awaits the tired riders at Texas State University.  Our second day of riding sees everyone peddling away towards South Austin, our final destination.

Besides the new starting point, another change to this year’s event is the addition of a 32 mile loop that starts and ends at Retama Park to join the 14 mile family ride that does the same.  The 54 and 80 mile routes end up at Texas State University in San Marcos.  Cyclists traditionally spend the afternoon tubing on the river, returning to the Overnight Celebration for food and live music.  This year the food is being provided by the Texas Beef Council and Jason’s Deli.  “High Octane” will be entertaining us with music throughout the evening.

No worries about where to sleep.  Riders spend the night in dorm rooms on the campus of Texas State University in San Marcos.  This year the tour event features bellhops to carry cyclist’s luggage to their rooms!  How’s that for service?

The second day starts after fanfare at Butler Hall at TSU.  Riders will again have a choice of routes, including 25, 58 and 80 mile routes.
